VNIIFTRI scientists took part in the meeting of the ISO/TC 281 "Fine Bubble Technology" Technical Committee

Moscow Region, February 26, 2024 – Specialists of the Russian Metrological Institute of Technical Physics and Radio Engineering (VNIIFTRI) of Rosstandart took part in meetings of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) TC (Technical Committee) 281 «Fine Bubble Technology». The committee meetings were held from 20 to 23 February.

  "VNIIFTRI takes an active part in the work of international organizations responsible for metrology and standardization in various fields of human activity. Due to the growing number of applications of Fine Bubble Technology and the expansion of the quotation market, standardization related to terminology, development and implementation of technology, testing and evaluation of equipment, instruments, measuring systems and water quality with Fine Bubble Water (FBW) becomes of higher relevance. Our Institute has been working as a member of the International Technical Committee ISO TC 281 and in its three working groups since its foundation and officially represents the interests of Russia in them," noted Narine Oganyan, Deputy Head of the Research Department of Physico–Chemical and Electrical Measurements of the FSUE VNIIFTRI.

  During the meetings of TC 281, much attention was paid to new drafts of standards on the use of Fine Bubble Technology in the interests of ecology to improve the state of the environment. Presentations were made by the heads of such projects as "Determination of ozone dosage in fine bubble technologies in wastewater treatment", "Method for assessing the removal of heavy metals from soil using fine-bubble technologies".

  At the meetings issues of standardization of procedures for sampling water with fine bubbles used in the agro-industrial sector, in the textile industry, during disinfection etc., procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of the technology itself, clarifying the essence of the characteristics of "fine bubbles" and the causal and effect relationship associated with their impact on processes etc. were also discussed.

 The area of ISO TC 281 activity is standardization in the field of Fine Bubble Technology, covering general principles, including, but not limited to, terminology, characteristics and application of fine gas bubbles in a typical liquid medium.
