VNIIFTRI started serial production of ultrasonic radiation meters
Moscow Region, February 22, 2024 – The Russian Metrological Institute of Technical Physics and Radio Engineering (VNIIFTRI) of Rosstandart launched serial production of ultrasonic radiation meters (IMUI). The devices are cheaper than analogues available on the market today and have advanced capabilities for monitoring the measurement process. The most widely used ultrasonic radiation meters are in demand in the field of maintenance of ultrasound medical equipment used in physiotherapy procedures and ultrasound diagnostics.
"Due to the growth of the park of ultrasound medical equipment and its fields of application, the need to control its characteristics and, accordingly, the production of appropriate measuring devices is growing. VNIIFTRI, as the keeper of the State Primary Standard for ultrasound power unit in water, has the necessary scientific competencies and the ability to produce such devices with high accuracy characteristics in the volumes required today. At the same time, IMUI price is lower than the price of similar devices from other manufacturers due to the use of exclusively domestic component base. The products are already available for order," noted Fyodor Khrapov, Deputy General Director for Testing.
The ultrasonic radiation power meter manufactured by VNIIFTRI was developed by specialists of the Research Department of Metrology of Hydrophysical measurements. The work of the meter is based on the gravitational method on the basis of balancing the force arising from the radiation pressure of the sound wave on the absorbing target. The effect exerted by the force of radiation pressure leads to a change in the weight of the target, which is recorded by electronic scales.
"The design of the device made it possible to get rid of the main disadvantages of analogues available on the markets today. For example, it is possible to measure the power of transducers that ensure the concentration of acoustic energy in a certain area (focusing transducers), as well as to visually assess the area of ultrasonic exposure in the area of color change of the absorbing target via the thermochromic component (the target contains thermochrome, which changes color when heated)," – noted one of the developers of the device, employee of Research Department of Metrology of Hydrophysical Measurements, Sergey Kuznetsov.
To date, contracts for the supply of IMUI to a number of organizations that are engaged in the maintenance and repair of ultrasound medical equipment have already been concluded.
